Best Inclusive School Award

Private School Casa Minunata from Oradea is the winner of the Award “ School for all” within the Gala for People with Disabilities, Edition “Education without Borders” from December 3, 2011.

131 candidates applied to one of the 5 categories of the competition. Casa Minunata was proud to participate in a category together with other famous schools from all over the country, even the Ministry of National Education.

17 years ago, Casa Minunata was confronted with the huge challenge of creating a new model of education for Romania. Inspired by Swedish school experience and sponsored by Lions Clubs it opened its gates to facilitate access to education for children with severe disabilities the first time in the country. It proved to be a successful attempt and over 200 children were mainstreamed into community schools through Casa Minunata.

A new challenged followed in 2004 when children with normal development were invited to join our programs and we wish to express our appreciation for parents who understood the value of inclusion and came alongside. They share the success.

This important award fills us with joy and pride and it crowns the work of the team in the field of special and inclusive education.

We strongly believe that all children have the right to quality education and a fulfilled life. Inclusion brings major benefits for all children involved.
